Hey everybody! I'm the admin of a groupchat on Facebook for people traveling through Croatia and I just thought I would drop some info/experience here down below. If you have any more questions/want to be added please send me a message on facebook, or leave a comment on our Youtube channel and I'll get back to you ASAP. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjy3FK5ytnP6-FpDaHfyFpw/videos
In this group we not only try to help each other through the third country process but also try to be supportive to one and other through the emotional/physiological storm that this season in our lives have proven to be. This is a shitty situation, and feeling powerless is something very common in this day and age.
We’ve had many many successful experiences, and some with some twists and turns, but so far everyone have ended up in the arms of their SO.
Important notice: baseline is clear, make sure to get stamp on entry to Croatia. You’ll have to ask, and sometimes you have to be rather forceful (but with a smile). Make sure to get the stamp, and we have experience of flight, bus, car and ferry in this group. All ways of transport have worked so far. We also recommend saving tickets/boarding passes together with hotel bookings/recipes to be able to proof your stay if asked. Recently a lot of people have been asked for more documents to support their stay out of Schengen, so highly recommend you fill your binder with all of the above mentioned, if you would ever get in to a similar situation. Also have a look at the general suggested documents for your binder as this will help you with the main questions from CBP later mentioned in this message. After your 15 day stay (14 nights, this is what I together with many recommend as a safety precaution, but the said days are 14. Up to each one to interpret the rules, but doing this way just gives you a buffer). When arriving to the airport, try to do so as early as possible to put you in the check in line at the very front. The suggested time from many in this group has been 3 h, as the lines become long at these check in desks. Delta works gates 7-12 in Dubrovnik so hang out around there. When checking in (not online as this may cancel out your esta) you need to make sure they understand your situation and if not, ask for a supervisor. As they need to clear it with CBP that you are allowed to board. If your ESTA gets canceled, don’t panic, just reapply and it will be reinstated within 30-60 min. I know it’s been told in this group that we are not supposed to, but honestly I’m still holding fast to the reapplication attitude, but as this is becoming rarer and rarer I’m not By showing up early you have time for this mishap! You’ll have to fill out an attestation for the US, ans there been a mix of online/at sight experience, so can’t give you a 100 % clear answer on that one. Have been mainly online recently though. WHEN IT COMES TO COVID TESTS: entering the US you can use PCR/Antigen but if you have a layover you need to check what the country requires, but also check what the airline you’re flying with is requiring. Know that tests are changing in the EU right now, making everything more digital and with QR codes, would just make sure you have the proper one leaving your home country to enter Croatia/leaving Croatia for the US.
When arriving in the US, the main questions will be:
- Where are you traveling from?
- Why are you visiting?
- How long are you staying for, can I see a return ticket?
- Where are you staying?
- What do you have as a job?
- Have you been here before?
Good documents to have is a printed return flight and your partners adress handy, together with the binder of suggested documents and proof of your stay. If you stay at a hotel, I would recommend them to print you a receipt with your name, duration of stay and price as at check out. Together with your stamp, this will be solid evidence on how you stayed in Croatia.
Feel free to ask any questions. No matter how big or small, we are all in this together!
Take care, stay safe and happy weekend everybody!
