Travel buddy for a 14 day stay over before the USA (from UK)

I was able to book a direct flight from Germany, Frankfurt to Cancum, Mexico this upcoming Thursday. This way I don't have to transfer in the US. Then I booked an Airbnb for 15 nights (that's the mandatory amount). I found a Reddit post with some helpful info about staying in Cancun. https://www.reddit.com/r/USTravelBan/comments/odqjmx/uk_cancun_la_success_and_tips/ This person used High Impact Solutions to get a COVID test before flying to the US, so I'll be doing the same I think.
Mexico is generally cheap food and drinks wise and my Airbnb was about €500 for the full two weeks. That was the cheapest stay I could find.

Evik97 Oh cool, that is cheap! Do you not have to quarantine in Mexico? You can leave the place you're staying in? I've heard so many stories about having to stay put in the hotel you're in, so make sure it's all inclusive for food etc. as you're not allowed to leave. Is that old news now?

UKtoUS Oh! If you are married, you're allowed into the USA to see him anyway right? Under the spouse exclusion? Wherever I fly into the US is no problem to me, I have to get a connecting flight to Ohio anyway, but yeah I still can't do that with the ban. I check the travel updates everyday, and always end up losing hope with it :(

I’ve found somewhere quite cheap to stay in cancun, really close to the airport and it says that they offer transport. So thinking of doing there. Possibly going Friday!

LornaLou I probably will have to in the US but that’s not necessary in Mexico. You just need to fill in a health questionnaire.

I'm still looking for a travel buddy, I'm looking to go to Antigua on the 3rd August (or around there) from the UK. It's a direct flight of 8 hours, and then fly to Miami (and on from there to Ohio) after 15 days. Is anyone looking to make the same trip? :)

I would have absolutely loved to join you, as I do have the time to do it... unfortunately I was denied a esta several times now, for whatever reason... so I had to apply for a visa, but all appointments were cancelled due to covid. So right now I don't even know when I will ever be able to travel to the USA. Even if they would open, I need a visa to travel. So sad

VJ0 Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry they denied your ESTA! That's awful! Did they give a reason? I didn't think they usually deny them. Mine was approved within 24 hours.

I applied for my esta last year in summer, it was approved and then cancelled later on in February this year. ...no reason was given, I called several sources and they all told me that there is no reason on my application, so they couldn't even tell me what was wrong. Sad :(

Other people discussed on Reddit about having their ESTA denied - we live in strange time. The most annoying, the rich and even (moderately) famous for whatever reasons keep travelling from USA to several European countries as if they are more careful than us not to get Covid. It makes me sick.

UKtoUS That makes me sick too, it's so unfair. Everything is extremely unfair and the rules are stupid. I'm so glad I got my ESTA approved, maybe because I applied last year!

LornaLou There are so many threads on Reddit about this subject - it is utterly sickening what is going on. USA teenagers discuss about visiting several European locations while we cannot even reunite with our partners.
