Thanks so much! it's definitely hard. I am thinking of maybe just taking the chance and trying to go in late March. The gardai are accepting other reasonable excuses as why you are travelling and i believe that they can't doubt the evidence of the relationship as i will have lots of documentation explaining this. To me and many others reuniting with your partner is a 'valid reason' and is definitely not a holiday.

I’m having the same issue ( I’m Irish and have a German boyfriend) We both really cannot believe how strict the Irish government is being - it almost seems illegal to block a person
from leaving their own country in the first place., but also they have just given 0 consideration to the fact that we aren’t travelling to visit tourist spots or anything. Really glad to have found this because honestly in Germany they fight/protest these type of rules, however in Ireland nobody seems to be doing anything about it and I wouldn’t have a clue how to question it officially. Really crazy how a year on and it’s still getting more complicated/difficult

Hi there, I'm so happy to have heard about this site, I heard about it on the Niall Boylan show, It's unbelievable that there is no exemptions for long-distance relationships, I am in a relationship with a lovely lady from Dusseldorf for the last 8 years and not been able to see her is really hard, we even talked about the possibility of breaking up because of this. I hope the governments work something out for all the couples in this situtation.
