fighting AGAIN for couples to enter Norway

Hei!
I´m Melanie and have a boyfriend in Norway. since a few months the boarders are again closed in norway and just married couples are allowed to enter. because that doesn´t make any sence we decided to write a letter to FHI, Helse, the ambassies and all the goverment emails i could find. I thought also, here could be a good place, because once they understood the problem and created the opportunity to sign a contract that made the couples enter norway. but important: THIS CONTRACT IS NOT WORKING AT THE MOMENT!!! so i am super frustrated they didn´t learn out of their first false. But because there were people standing up to it last time i want to ask you guys, who knows what we can do, where we can send letters to, who was the person standing up to it last time ? thanks for helping ! This is an amacing thing we have here ! we have to be loud to be heard!!

I feel your frustration! My partner is from Norway and I am from the UK. We have been apart coming up to 5 months now with no end in sight!

I have tried looking at any possible route to be with him, work are fine for me to remote work from Norway, I even purchased a car so I could drive over there with my dog to be with him but no allowances seem to be being made for couples.

We are not tourists! We only want to be with eachother! I have trailed websites and forums searching for any possible way to enter and cannot find anything!

Praying we get to be with our loved ones soon! :(

I feel your frustration!!! I have been trying to see my boyfriend in Norway since this all started. We have had to cancel so many planned visits now to see each other. I have to plan based on my breaks as a teacher. We finally thought, okay- we can do summer. I planned to visit from the US and stay with him in Norway during my summer break. We knew the strict entry regulations were issued but thought, surely, by the beginning of June, things will relax once more. I even have now been fully vaccinated. My boyfriend tells me the Norwegian news recently stated that Norway is talking of keeping the strict regulations in place until AUGUST! They want most their citizens to be vaccinated. I am in tears. He can’t come into the US either. This has been heartbreaking and beyond frustrating! Is the US going to allow exemptions? Will Norway consider letting romantic partners be an exemption if they are vaccinated?

Hey to all of you. I am sorry that I was not that active, but I tried to affoid the topic at the moment. Our letter arrived at the statsminister place and i think they read it but told me they send it to another place in the government (even if they are the onces deciding those rules) but i never heard anything after that. I am really angry and frustrated because I have the feeling nobody is taking us for granted.

Here are over 8000 people fighting for our rights! Just join! most of the posts are in norwegian (not sure if you can understand norwegian) but mostly if you ask, there are always people translating (or good old Google translator ;) ).

I am still sad and frustrated and decided to take a step back and just be part of the group because there are also a lot of norwegians who try to fight inlands and I am shocked that a huge group like that, which went public by having demonstrations and a lot of articels that are publicated in the newspapers, is not getting heard.
But I think this group is the best place to be active, becasue we are so many people and we have to be loud!

To KJ123 I actually haven´t read anything about letting people in that are vaccinated. I think the problem is that the norwegians are affraid of you ( just as an example) to bring in the virus. And because the vaccine can nit stop you from getting corona or even just bringing the virus in, I think ( just being reallyy rational) they will not change it too fast. I really hope they do so, and also the whole new strategy is just right now being critisiced and I hope they will maybe change it for our rights.

melanie Thank you so much for responding. I also try to avoid the stress of it and just be hopeful for certain periods of time before revisiting the topic. Decisions and future decisions seem to be continually changing. I heard August then possibly September for Norway to keep the strict regulations in place. Now I’m hearing they mentioned some possible exemptions coming up.
Overall, I get it. I understand their rationale. They are trying to contain covid.
But, big picture, look how long this has been going on. The world can’t shut down. Who knows when an end will come. Who knows if the vaccine is effective. New strains have already surfaced that are resistant to the vaccine. So, will it be an endless cycle? Who knows. Yet on a humanitarian level, love and relationships have to be considered a social emotional priority as loved ones are being isolated from each other. What issues does THAT cause with well being? My boyfriend has even been very ill after a surgery and conditions coming from that and I still can’t even get to him! I’m angry that marriage is looked at as the only valid “relationship” by so many countries. Although I understand the reasoning, im also angry about the need people have to “validate “ and prove they are in a relationship. Yet, just the state we are in.
I’ve read that President Biden, im an American, may allow foreigners in come into our country mid May, as several groups are pleading their case for fear of millions losing their jobs and tourism related businesses crashing, thus further effecting our economy. We shall see. I predict we may not see that change.
The louder are voices get, maybe we will be heard.
Im so sorry about your continued frustrations, as well. I’m hoping someone stops to listen.
At this rate, marriage by proxy as in days of old may be our solution?
I’ll join the FB group and go from there.
i am now wondering if I can get a special travel exception since my BF has been so ill. Yet, I’m not “family.”
