Hey, it's me, Felix. I want to talk to you about your data.
What is stored and why?
When you register on this board, I store your chosen username so that you can log in, and your entered email address so that you can recover your account or receive notifications. If you don't use "Sign in with Twitter", then I also store an encrypted hash of your password, so that I can make sure it's you when you log in.
When you post text or upload an image, they will be stored, so I can show them to others. If you use "Sign in with Twitter", then your current profile picture is copied to this server, so that others can see it as well.
I do not store anything else about you. No tracking, no marketing, no "improving your experience". Only your username, your email address, your password hash (if you want) and - of course - everything you post or upload. And I will never send you an email, unless you ask for it.
Where is it stored and what happens to it?
Your information is stored on a server in Germany. Therefore, your data is subject to the General Data Protection Regulation of the European Union, one of the strictest data protection laws in the world.
The server owned by a german hosting company called Strato AG and fully controlled by me. Every night, the server creates a copy of itself and stores it on another server in the Strato datacenter. Your email address and your password hash never leave that datacenter. However, your username, your posts, and the images you upload are displayed to anyone who views this board.
How long is my data stored?
Your data is stored until 1 July 2022 at the latest. After that date, everything will be deleted and forgotten forever. You have the right to have all your data shown to you or permanently deleted at any time. Send an email to privacy@loveisnottourism.org if you want that.
Lastly, I want to thank you for trusting me with your personal data. I was trained in IT security at university and I'm doing everything I can to protect your data.
